An Art Stroll to Remember

POSTED IN Vacation Activities , Vacation Advice

We have had the pleasure of visiting Puerto Vallarta for the past eleven years and never tire of the beautiful scenery, wonderful beaches or great activities the city has to offer. While PV is happening year round, our favorite time to visit is in the winter. Freezing temperatures and drifts of snow at home always remind us it’s time to head south and enjoy a few weeks in the sun. One of the most relaxing activities we do every year is to take the famous Puerto Vallarta Art Walk. It happens every Wednesday, from late October until the end of May and it has something for everyone.

I love art and I also enjoy walking, so this is a no-brainer if you enjoy ether or both. The Art Walk takes place downtown, just off the Malecon. It begins at 6:00pm and lasts until 10pm and it covers over a dozen distinct art galleries and installations. The galleries feature a wide array of art, ranging from paintings to bronze sculptures. Mexican masks, textiles and stained glass are also on display in abundance as well, but it’s the photography and mixed media works that my husband really enjoys. And best of all, there’s free wine and soft drinks offered throughout the tour. If you would like a nice introduction to the vibrant art scene in Puerto Vallarta, then the Art Walk is an excellent place to start.

In addition to the free drinks, there are also strolling Mexican musicians featured along the way, playing an assortment of traditional songs. The Art Walk is great for the whole family and even though there’s a lot to see, it actually only covers a few blocks so it’s an easy walk for the kids. If you find yourself in PV in the winter, discover the magic of Mexican art by joining the PV Art Walk. For more information, visit: http://www.vallartaartwalk.com/map.html.
